Pop-culture pleasure palace.

Three floors. One arcade. One restaurant. One cocktail lounge. One 250-seat theatre. All in the old IMAX building at 12 Lake Street, Northbridge.

The story.

Planet Royale opened in 2021 inside the old Cinema Paradiso / IMAX building on Lake Street, Northbridge - a piece of Perth screen-history we couldn't let just sit empty. The building had a marquee, three floors, a lobby designed for a crowd, and the kind of bones that wanted music, neon, and a full bar.

What we built is part arcade, part restaurant, part cocktail lounge, part live theatre. Floor 1 is the kitchen and Barcadia - 50+ pinball cabinets, classic arcade, full bar, kitchen open the whole time. Up the stairs is Major Tom's, our Bowie-soundtracked cocktail floor with a top-shelf list and the best view of Lake Street. Up another flight is the Royale Theatre - 250 seated, 350 standing, programmed with comedy, drag, ballroom, music, and the occasional Spamalot.

It works because nobody else in Perth puts those four things under one roof. You can dine in, hit the pinball wall, stretch out at a cocktail bar upstairs, and then catch a show on the third floor without ever leaving the building.
